In the municipality of Campo Verde (131 km south of Cuiabá), in the experimental field of Assist (Agronomic Consultancy and Experimentation), a technical visit to rainfed wheat cultivation will take place this Friday (30.06). The coordinator of the Wheat Culture Support Program (Protrigo) and researcher at the Mato Grosso Research, Assistance and Rural Extension Company (Empaer), Hortêncio Paro, clarifies that 40 wheat genetic materials for Cultivation and Use Value testing ( VCU) with productive potential for Mato Grosso will be demonstrated to participants.
The event is aimed at Agronomy students, businesspeople, researchers, rural producers, technical assistance and rural extension professionals, and others. The visit is scheduled to begin at 8am. Paro highlights that rainfed wheat has shown positive responses with a productivity of between 35 and 40 bags per hectare, including grain quality compared to the best imported wheat. “The objective of the technical visit is to awaken another safrinha option in agricultural society, which has the potential to cultivate one million hectares in Mato Grosso”, he emphasizes.
According to the researcher, Protrigo's goal is to make culture sustainable in the state. He emphasizes that wheat cultivation simply needs to have better prices and explains that, when it reaches a price of R$ 80.00 per bag, compared to soybean cultivation, Mato Grosso will be a major producer of the crop. According to Hortêncio Paro, the technology validation work that tests the production system has been using, over the last five years, six varieties of rainfed wheat, BRS 404, Cd 1104, CD 151, CD 1252, Valente and Sintonia.
During the technical visit, trials being studied to control Nematodes, Blast, variety competition work and Protrigo actions will be presented. The tests with the varieties will be aimed at genetic materials classified for the production of bread, pasta and flour considered noble. The technical visit is carried out by Assist Consultoria, the Brazilian Agricultural Research Company (Embrapa) and Empaer. The event is scheduled to end at 12 noon.
