A low pressure system is forming in the region. This favors heavy clouds. The South of Brazil is on alert. The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) predicts intense rain. Thunderstorms are expected in all three states over the next 24 hours.
“Rain between 30 and 60 mm/h or 50 and 100 mm/day, intense winds (60-100 km/h), and hail. Risk of electricity cuts, damage to plantations, falling trees and flooding”, states the publication.
According to the Cosmo model, the tendency is for the rain to gain intensity in the next few hours, with emphasis on Rio Grande do Sul where the volume, once again, could be significant and reach above 100mm during the period. Areas in the west of the state are expected to record the most significant rainfall.
Areas of instability also advance towards the Southeast and Central-West of Brazil. According to Climatempo, there is a condition for rain in all states in Southeast Brazil.
“In Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, there are forecasts of rain showers with lightning at any time, but with some sunny periods, among many clouds. There is a risk of moderate to heavy rain in Minas, except in Zona da Mata and on the border with Vale do Paraíba (SP)”, he adds.
In the Central-West, it should only not rain in the extreme central-west of Mato Grosso do Sul, in the extreme north and west of Mato Grosso. “For the other areas of Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, in the Federal District, throughout the state of Goiás, the forecast is for periods with sun and rain showers with lightning mainly in the afternoon and at night. Some blows can be moderate to strong in intensity”, states the consultancy.
