Correct use of chemical products is discussed in the Serra region

Concerned about the excessive use of pesticides in some crops, highlighted by analyzes carried out at Ceasa in Porto Alegre and published a few months ago, the Emater/RS-Ascar de Caxias do Sul Regional Office took the initiative to invite extensionists from the region and technicians from Caxias do Sul City Hall, as well as sales consultants from input stores, to discuss the rationalization of the use of chemical products in viticulture, aiming at safe food production and the sustainability of the activity, which occupies 40 thousand hectares in the Serra. The meeting took place this Thursday morning (04/20), in the Ceasa auditorium, in Caxias do Sul.

?With this activity we are breaking paradigms, as we know that commerce and Rural Extension have different visions and different work philosophies. The intention is to discuss the subject and reduce the distance in the way of working with rural grape-producing families, who are the public of both?, highlighted the agronomist from Emater/RS-Ascar, Enio Ângelo Todeschini.

The discussion was led by the agronomist, who discussed the main agrochemicals used, their classification, composition, types of formulations, withdrawal period, residual period and phytotoxicity, among others. According to Todeschini, in 2015 there were 129 fungicides registered on Mapa for use in viticulture. He also addressed the behavior of grape varieties to phytosanitary treatments, such as Bordô and its derivatives, for example, which are sensitive to the sulfur present in most acrochemicals, and recalled that the more rational use of chemical products also depends on climatic conditions, the sources of inoculum existing in the vineyards and the application technology used, among other factors.

The same topic was discussed on Wednesday morning (19/04) in Nova Pádua and, over the next two months, other events will take place in municipalities in the region.
