North American President Donald Trump published on Twitter that the United States (USA) agreed to postpone the increase in tariffs on Chinese products, reports “Agência Brasil”.
He said that the increase will be postponed from the 1st to the 15th of October. Tariffs on US$ 250 billion worth of goods imported from China were scheduled to increase from 25% to 30%.
Trump said the postponement was requested by Chinese Vice Premier Liu He as the People's Republic of China will celebrate its 70th anniversary. Japanese businessmen, on an annual visit to China, expressed to Prime Minister Li Keqiang their desire for Beijing to resolve the trade dispute with Washington.
This Wednesday (11), a group of representatives from the Japan–China Economic Association met with Li. Chaired by Shoji Muneoka, the entity hopes that the two largest economies in the world will resolve the conflict.
The Chinese premier responded that China will talk to the United States to try to find a solution. Japanese and Chinese representatives of the association spoke about the interest in having closer ties between the two Asian nations.
The president of the business entity said that Japan and China will work together in new fields. “We hope to be able to carry forward the attitude of mutual cooperation.” The group of businesspeople and Premier Li Keqiang also highlighted the importance of free trade for the growth of the global economy.
