Last week's low temperatures caused losses in part of wheat crops in the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina and São Paulo, especially those at a more advanced stage of development, when they are more vulnerable to intense cold. According to Cepea collaborators, the weather conditions over the next two months, at least, should be fundamental for calculating national production, since most crops were still in the initial and/or intermediate stages of development. The frosts and the retraction of producers kept cereal prices high on the over-the-counter and available markets, even with the devaluation of the dollar. In addition to wheat crops, the cold front also damaged pastures and corn, a substitute in feed, consequently increasing the price of wheat bran. On the other hand, flour negotiations remain low, influenced by lower demand.
