At 8:46 am (Brasília time) this Thursday (31), the May wheat contract on the Chicago Stock Exchange (CBOT) advanced 1.25 points and 0.12%, traded at US$ cents 1,028.50/bushel, with monthly appreciation of 10,22% to date. In Kansas City (KCBT), the spot appreciated 0.50 points and 0.05%, at US$ cents 1,045.00/bushel – an increase of 9.84% in the month.
On Wednesday (30), the cereal spot rose 1.28% on CBOT and 1.95% on KCBT. Support for the war in Eastern Europe, despite attempts to reach an agreement between Russia and Ukraine – together, they are responsible for 30% of the global commercialization of the commodity.
In this session, investors await the quarterly planting area and stocks reports, which will be released today, at 1 pm, by the North American Department of Agriculture (USDA, in English).

Experts expect the body to identify 19.40 million hectares; in 2021, 18.90 million ha were cultivated.
However, quarterly wheat stocks on March 1 are expected to reach 28.30 million tons, compared to 35.68 million tons last year – a factor that supports prices.
USDA will also report export sales records for the week ending March 24.
