To avoid using chemicals, electric weeding is a viable, safe and zero-carbon alternative.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Brazil has around 16 thousand registered organic producers, a number that grows every year. Likewise, the consumer market is going through the beginning of a consolidation process and growth will strengthen in the coming years, as shown by a recent survey carried out by the Brazilian Council for Organic and Sustainable Production (Organis).
The vast market of opportunities in the sector also naturally has its challenges. In production, one of them is weed control management, where chemicals, such as herbicides, cannot be used. Weeds compete for the plantation's natural resources and can cause a reduction in plant growth, development and productivity.
Furthermore, in a second moment, they act as a breeding ground for pests and diseases, such as insects and small animals, such as rodents and birds. Consequently, there is a drop in production yield and the producer will begin to bear a higher production cost.

As a non-chemical alternative for this very important management, Brazil can count on electric weeding. It is a high-tech tool that uses electrical discharges to eliminate weeds from crops. Developed and patented by the multinational company Zasso™, in addition to being a zero herbicide option, it has the advantage of also being zero carbon emissions.
For organic
Organic farming has big challenges, especially when we talk about zero waste. To help this population, electric weeding is a viable and important alternative. Two of the company's pieces of equipment can be used, the motor cultivator and microtractor models, both from the Raiden line. With great versatility, they are easy to use and have more affordable prices. “Our idea is to expand the use of electric weeding in the agro-urban markets in which we already operate, however, in a much broader way. We believe that organic producers can benefit greatly from our technology, especially because it leaves zero waste in the environment”, explains Sérgio Coutinho, Co-CEO and founder of Zasso™.
The multinational has several certifications that guarantee the sustainability of the technology. “We are certainly offering Brazilian producers an option with high technology and added research, which in addition to being sustainable compared to the use of herbicides and other products to eliminate invasive plants, also delivers results”, concludes the executive.
Zasso Group AG is a Swiss-based company whose mission is to provide safe, efficient, viable and necessary technologies for a herbicide-free world. The company reshaped the global weeding paradigm. Originally developed in Brazil, the patented technology is systemic, controlling the aerial and root systems of plants. It has offices in Zug (Switzerland), Indaiatuba (Brazil), Aachen (Germany) and Paris (France).
