Last Monday (08.04), the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Tereza Cristina, stated that the freight table is harming both truck drivers and the productive sectors. She said that at the end of May the University of São Paulo (USP) will release a study with a table proposal.
According to the Minister, the ideal situation would be for the price list to be dropped, since, after all, we live in an open economy, she argued. “We need to sit down and talk to reach an understanding between the parties and not create a law and price list,” she emphasized. The Minister also said that she has been talking a lot about the problem with the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, who is responsible for handling the issue within the government and with the Supreme Federal Court (STF). Tereza Cristina made these statements in a press conference during the 18th Tecnoshow Comigo, in Rio Verde (GO).
The minister recalled that the ministry's role is to show the world that the certification of Brazilian products is serious, and that everyone can believe in what the country produces for more than 160 markets around the world.
Regarding the pension reform, he once again stressed that it is an issue that Brazil needs to resolve, not just President Jair Bolsonaro, or a minister, or the Chamber of Deputies. “I am sure that the agribusiness caucus knows how important it is in all votes, especially at this time when it could be the balance of that house,” he stated.
