Syngenta, in partnership with Argentina's LS Electromecánica, developed a seed treatment machine that aims to meet the demands of producers and multipliers in the neighboring country. The new machine was named Piccolo and, according to Syngenta, it is easy to operate and has “great speed” for professional treatment of any type of seed, meeting all of the multinational's requirements for its biotechnology products.
Due to its compact size, Piccolo can be easily placed in multiplier installations without much investment, according to the manufacturers. The machine is semi-automatic with wheels that generate mobility in the warehouse and can be taken on a truck. It has 40 kilo receptors and can treat the seed in 30 seconds. With soybean seeds, it can treat between four and eight tons per hour and also treats wheat, peanuts, barley and corn. The first machines were recently delivered to large dealers in several regions of Argentina.
“We launched a new technology for the professional treatment of seeds that is managed with the batch system and allows the application of products formulated on a liquid or powder basis. Its commercial name is Piccolo, it has the same technological processes as automatic machines, but with a handling system that can range from semi-automatic to manual,” declared Luis Funes, president of LS Electromecánica.
“Piccollo was designed following all the requirements we detected in the market, which today demands a more compact machine. This technology surpassed all the quality standards that Syngenta imposes and we can guarantee the correct application of our products and excellent final quality for the producer,” said Pablo Rugeroni, from Syngenta’s SeedCare team.
