The price of soybeans on the Chicago Grain Exchange recorded a drop of 12.00 cents in the May/17 contract on Tuesday (03/07), closing at US$ 10.2525 per bushel. The July/17 contract fell 11.25 cents in the Dollar, while the August/17 contract depreciated 10.75 cents in the Dollar.
The day was one of heavy losses in the main futures prices in the North American soybean market, which does not find fundamentals capable of holding prices at current levels. The oilseed took advantage of the general rise in commodities recorded in recent days, but the large supply arriving from South America is beginning to put pressure on prices.
