After going through a difficult situation last year, whether from a climatic point of view – due to droughts in some regions – and even economically, rural producers felt this impact on their harvest and, consequently, on their pockets. Despite this, 2017 began with soybean prices above the values for the previous year, which encouraged the producer.
According to the Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries (Abiove), the trend in this market is one of constant improvement, as there is an estimate of 101.3 million tons of grain for the 2016/2017 harvest. The value is 4.9% higher compared to the period 2015/2016.
As in the world of agribusiness the saying “you reap what you sow” is literal, it is necessary to have quality management in all stages of reproduction so that we have a good harvest. To do this, you need to follow three essential steps:
Control
Regular maintenance and inspection of the plantation are extremely important. It is there that we can identify the needs of the crop early so that the treatment becomes more effective.
In the case of rust, control effectively in early soybean varieties that are planted earlier with a shorter cycle. This will prevent it from harming newer crops and cycles that will come later. To do this, we recommend the use of products that are effective from the moment of application until harvest so that these materials have the lowest possible inoculum at the end of their cycle.
Protection
Fungicides are the backbone of qualified management. With a medium to long-term effect, protectors are essential and provide an extremely positive return to the producer. They are the ones who will complete the defense program and keep the management tools useful for longer.
Strategy
Have conservative risk management and don't take unnecessary risks.
Draw up a strategy that covers everything from preparing the seeds to harvesting. Avoid unpleasant surprises. To do this, carry out a survey of all crop risks and their respective treatments at all stages.
