Argentina's grain inspectors' union ended a weeklong strike after securing a deal to more than double wages in line with the country's rising inflation rate, the union said Wednesday.
The deal is expected to facilitate grain exports, a crucial source of revenue for the financially strapped government.

The union, called URGARA, is a collective of grain technicians who analyze grain stored in warehouses and loaded onto ships. The strike, however, did not affect port operations.
In addition to the pay increase, workers will receive a bonus, the union said.
In the future, “the most important thing is to start dialogue to form a working group to resolve all other conflicts within the group,” which include security conditions, union leader Pablo Palacio said in a statement.
The union's demands for pay rises come at a time when purchasing power is falling rapidly due to a runaway rise in consumer prices, with domestic inflation reaching 102% year-on-year in February.
