According to the director of Economics and Statistics at Abiquim, Fátima Giovanna Coviello Ferreira, internal activity has shown consistent improvement in the last four months, after a period of strong contraction, between April and May, stimulated by Covid-19. “Traditionally, for chemical products for industrial use, which are the basis of several other industrial chains, the months from July to October are the best of the year, due to Christmas orders and the summer period, which increases demand for disposables and other items. This year, in addition to this seasonal movement, there is also a general rebuilding of stocks in several chains, in addition to a cyclical increase in demand for chemicals not only in Brazil, but also in the international market”, says the director of Abiquim.
Comparing September 2020 with the same month last year, the results are also positive: the production index grew by 8.05%, the internal sales index had a better result of 18.38% and the CAN registered an increase of 31.5%. Installed capacity utilization reached 77% in September, six points above that recorded in the same month last year. Volumes also grew in the third quarter of the year, in relation to data from the second quarter: the production index was 24.5% higher, the domestic sales index performed 50.74% better and the CAN grew 27.1%.
