Russia could become top global sunflower oil exporter in 2023

This Tuesday (27), a Russian official said that the Eurasian country could become the largest global exporter of sunflower oil in 2023, replacing Ukraine.

In 2022, Russian shipments of vegetable oils increased significantly, reaching 4.9 million tons, of which 3.7 million tons of sunflower oil.

For the first five months of 2023, an increase of 23% compared to the previous year in Russian vegetable oil exports is estimated, to 2.77mt, with China, Turkey and India being the main destinations.

The prices of the vegetable commodity reached the lowest level in the last three years, however, the prospect is that they will rise again soon.
