For the third day in a row, Russia attacked Ukrainian Black Sea ports. According to Reuters, the attacks destroyed homes, damaged the Chinese consulate in Odessa and also caused a large fire in a residential building in Mykolaiv.

The Kremlin says the offensive comes in retaliation for Ukraine tearing down its road bridge to the Crimean Peninsula, a day after the Eurasian country suspended its participation in the Black Sea grain deal.

The United States and Ukraine condemned the Russian attacks as a violation of international law. They also said Russia is trying to use the war to pressure Kiev into making concessions in peace talks.

The day before (19), Moscow said it would attack any ship sailing from Ukrainian Black Sea ports, including those from other countries.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry said that “the Kremlin has turned the Black Sea into a danger zone […] Responsibility for all risks lies entirely with the Russian leadership.”

Furthermore, the agency warned that it would apply the same measure as Moscow to vessels heading to Russian seaports.
