What does Conab say
Soy - 98% seeded. In MT, harvesting began last week, mainly in areas under pivots. Operations intensified from the second half of January. In BA, sowing is complete, with crops in good condition, but there is excess moisture in the soil and high cloud cover. In RS, high temperatures and water scarcity compromise the plants, which have a small size and a reduction in the number of pods. Crops further south are in better condition. In PR, 43% of crops are in average or poor condition due to lack of rain.
Corn – 90% seeded. In RS there are records of crops with pollination failures, formation of dull ears and light grains due to water restriction. In PR, water scarcity mainly affects crops in reproductive phases, and there is a prospect of a reduction in yield. In MA, sowing is delayed, due to excessive rainfall, and reaches 60% of the area. In GO, crops remain in good condition, with the first areas entering the grain filling phase. In BA, sowing operations are in the final phase. The crops are in good condition, with no significant damage due to excess humidity.

Rain Projection
The projection for the next 7 days indicates that the largest accumulations should occur in the central portion of MG, exceeding 250 mm in some points. Specifically over MT, GO and PA, the volumes should also be significant, but it should be noted that these more intense rains will occur sparsely.
The expectation is that during the week there will be the configuration of a new episode of the South Atlantic Convergence Zone (ZCAS) – a large humidity corridor connecting the Amazon region with the ocean – so the rains will continue to persist over a large part of the region. BA, where excess rainfall already influences crops.
On the other hand, in the southern and southern regions of MS, the predicted volumes are low – with areas where the forecast indicates values below 5 mm – and irregular. This could result in a worsening of water stress.
