On Wednesday (15), at the end of the first half of March, egg producers achieved a new increase in the sale of their product. In white eggs, the increase – 1st of the week, 4th of the month, 20th of the year – raised the average daily price of a box of white eggs in São Paulo wholesale to R$94.00, a new record in the sector. Red eggs, in turn, followed the increase in white eggs and were sold for values ranging from R$15.00 to R$20.00 more per box.
According to Jox Assessoria Agropecuária, the market remained firm, guaranteeing wholesale and retail without surpluses. Given the adjusted availability, new increases cannot be ruled out, especially for those who need the merchandise. Although record prices are being reached throughout March, the average price accumulated to date is only 3.5% higher than that achieved in the same period last year. And, year-to-date, the increase rate is just 2.9%.
