The General Confederation of Labor is promoting its first strike during the administration of Javier Milei, as opposed to the decree and the general law. In turn, the rural sector decided not to join. In a document signed by 25 entities, which include the Argentine Rural Society and the Argentine Rural Confederations, it was stated: “We, producers, have decided not to participate in the strike.”

It should be noted that this decision takes place within the framework of full legislative discussion regarding the increase in retentions. While the sector complains that a new increase is not implemented and that UPOV91 is not adhered to, the statement expresses: “We firmly believe that the new government has placed on the table for legislative debate a set of regulations and laws that promise to be beneficial for the whole of society".

In this sense, the entities that represent the area indicated that they are convinced that the way to overcome the crisis is to continue working. It should also be noted that Coninagro and the Argentine Agrarian Federation are not among the signatory entities.

On the other hand, the productive sectors that signed the document indicated that the work they carry out is essential to promote economic development and strengthen social ties in the provinces through roots and genuine work. “Workers’ demands must not fall into the tangle of politicization,” states the statement, highlighting the importance of separating labor issues from politics.

At the same time, it emphasizes that it is imperative to maintain focus on the needs and rights of society as a whole. Trade unions must focus on the needs of their members, avoiding political influences, and work for the common good of the nation.
