The increase in the mixture of biodiesel with diesel, if the proportions of 14% for January and 15% from March are resumed, would add 4 million tons of soybean meal to Brazilian production in 2023, which would total 43 million tons, stated the Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries (Abiove) this Monday.
Last week, the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) decided to maintain the current 10% biodiesel blend in the first quarter of next year, contrary to the expectations of producers, who expected an increase in the mandate.

As biodiesel is produced from crushing soybeans, it indirectly benefits meat production, since greater processing generates more soybean meal, the raw material for poultry and pig feed.
The resumption of biodiesel blending in 2023 could also increase soybean oil production by more than one million tons, reaching 11.3 million.
If B10 is maintained, this volume should remain at 10.1 million, according to Abiove, citing data presented at the seminar of the Mixed Parliamentary Front for Biodiesel (FPBio), in Brasília.
Last Friday, President Jair Bolsonaro partially vetoed the CNPE decision, annulling the authorization to include new biodiesel routes in the RenovaBio program, but maintained the proportion of 10% from January to March.
