Brazilian beef production will be around 35% greater than consumption, according to the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries (Abiec), adding that there is no risk of product shortages in the country. According to the CarneTec Brasil specialized portal , the projection considers the production already contracted with ongoing operations on the farms and which cannot be interrupted considering the dynamics of the production chain.
“The coronavirus covid-19 pandemic caused a rush by consumers to supermarkets, seeking to stock up on products for fear of shortages of food and other items. Abiec said that the beef production sector is working to guarantee the supply of quality food to customers in Brazil and abroad, observing the health of workers and the health safety of the meat produced”, says CarneTec.
Furthermore, Abiec also informed that “it is in direct contact with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply to manage and identify specific situations that require actions to adjust the fluidity of the production process”.
“Large Brazilian meatpacking plants announced last week the temporary suspension of activities in a total of ten units. Chinese demand for Brazilian beef fell in the first months of the year, impacted by coronavirus containment measures in the Asian country, but meat processors and analysts have already stated that the situation is normalizing”, adds the portal.
Finally, meat sector associations guarantee supplies during the coronavirus outbreak.
