The value of the corn premium offered by the Federal Government does not allow rural producers in Mato Grosso do Sul to reach the official minimum price for a 60 kg bag of corn. On Tuesday night (4), a premium value of R$ 1.32 was stipulated for MS, but the amount does not guarantee the exercise of the right to the minimum price.
This happens because the official minimum price in the State is R$ 19.21 per 60 kg bag of corn. If the premium is R$ 1.32 for every 60 kg, the bag of corn should be selling at R$ 17.89 or more in MS for it to be possible to use the premium, which is not happening, as the values are very high. below that.
On June 14th, Aprosoja/MS (Association of Soy Producers of Mato Grosso do Sul), together with Famasul (Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of MS), submitted a formal request to Mapa so that price equalization could be guaranteed. minimum paid to rural corn producers in the State, if the values were below the official minimum price.
However, the price per bag is currently between R$ 16.50 and R$ 17.00 in MS. Therefore, if the value of the premium (R$ 1.32) is added to the commercial value of the bag (R$ 17.00), the value of R$ 18.32 per bag is reached, far from the R$ 19.21 price official minimum, resulting in loss of the prize.
Therefore, the resource made available by the Federal Government per bag (R$ 1.32) does not allow reaching the minimum price. If the premium were stipulated at a value of around R$ 2.80 per bag of corn, the amount offered would meet the needs of the producer in Mato Grosso do Sul. The reality, however, does not allow the exercise of the guaranteed right to a minimum price. Aprosoja/MS continues to seek to equalize this difference with the Federal Government and, thus, guarantee rural producers access to the minimum price.
