In April, the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina exported and imported 4,952,059 tons of cargo. The volume is 7% greater than the 4,614,088 tons moved in the same 30 days of 2022. In the four months, the accumulated total exceeds 19 million tons, 2% more than the 18.7 million registered from January to April last year.

Both in the last month and in the first four months of the year, exports exceed imports in volume and percentage. More than 62% of everything that Paraná's ports handle are shipments, cargo that leaves the State for all continents.

“The five main destinations for cargo that left through Paraná ports during this period were China, Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands and India”, says the Director of Operations at Portos do Paraná, Gabriel Vieira. He also highlights that the most exported products in the year were the soy complex (grain, oil and bran), sugar and chicken. “The latter, in containers. The rest, all in bulk.”

DETAILS - In April, exports totaled 3,175,309 tons, a volume 10% higher than in April last year, with 2,892,813 tons. “For soybeans alone, in April we shipped almost 100% more compared to April 2022. This data confirms the change in the behavior of the new harvest which, this year, is arriving later”, says Vieira.

In the four months, a total of 11,952,978 tons were exported. In comparison to the 10,972,696 tons accumulated from January to April last year, the increase obtained this year is 9%.

“In imports, we recorded an increase of 6% in the month, but a drop of 11% in the four-month period”, highlights Vieira. “Different from what we observed in the first three months, in April the landing of fertilizers, the main products that arrive here, increased again”.

Last April, 1,916,365 tons of cargo entered the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina. In 2022, in the same 30 days, landings totaled 1,807,648 tons.

From January to April, this year, imports totaled 5,331,293 tons. Last year, 5,999,414 tons of products were unloaded.

PRODUCTIVITY - According to Gabriel Vieira, the increase of 2% in the total volume handled in the first four months may seem small, but it is not. “Considering that, this year, from January to April, we had 5.5 more days of rain, the increase recorded is very positive and confirms our efforts to be more productive and efficient in our operational times”, guarantees Vieira.
