The Port of Paranaguá has just broken another cargo handling record. In the month of August, 5.44 million tons of products were exported and imported through the port of Paraná.
This is the third consecutive month that the Port records handling records in 2017. In June of this year, 4.95 million tons were handled in July, the Port recorded 5.15 million tons of exported and imported cargo and, now, in the month of August a new record.
The last record for the month of August was recorded in 2015, when the Port of Paranaguá reached the mark of 4.6 million tons.
The record movement includes grains, liquids, containers, general cargo and fertilizers.
According to the director-president of the Administration of the Ports of Paranaguá and Antonina, Luiz Henrique Dividino, the consecutive records at the Port of Paranaguá are due to investments to increase the Port's operational capacity, which are bringing results
“The movement numbers reflect the planning and return on investments, combined with the technical and operational work of professionals who work in the port area. This sum of factors has been improving the entire existing logistics model, promoting the rationalization of operations and increasing the competitiveness indexes of the Ports of Paraná in relation to neighboring ports”, highlighted the president of Appa.
He recalled that, recently, also in August, Porto recorded the largest grain movement in history.
NEW RECORDS – In the last 25 months, the Port of Paranaguá broke 35 historical records for cargo handling. On August 18, for example, Correx broke a grain shipment record in a 24-hour period, with 134,057 tons of corn and soybean meal moved in one day.
Vehicle exports were a record in the first eight months of 2017, with 69,064 units. Sugar loading in a single day also surpassed the mark of 62.6 thousand tons of the product, surpassing the previous record in 2001 by 19%, when 52.5 thousand tons had been shipped in just one ship.
