The planting of the new Brazilian soybean crop was a little slower last week. Although the less humid climate allowed agricultural machinery to advance, it also worried some producers again, preventing better progress. Despite this, the delays accumulated since the beginning of sowing were recovered and work returned to the normal average for this time of year.
According to a survey by SAFRAS & Mercado, until November 13th, Brazilian producers had sown 67.3% of the total area planned for the country. The percentage is equivalent to approximately 25.786 million hectares, out of a total of 38.325 million hectares estimated for planting in the country. In the previous week, the index was 54.2%. In the same period last year, the percentage reached 65.9%, while the five-year average for the period is 64.7%.
In Paraná, 87% of the area destined for soybeans was sown. The percentage is equivalent to around 4.87 million hectares planted, out of a total of 5.6 million hectares estimated for the state. In the previous week, the index was 83%. In the same period last year, the percentage reached 91%, while the five-year average is 86.6% in the period.

In Mato Grosso, of a total planned area of 10.29 million hectares, 93% have already been sown, which is equivalent to approximately 9.57 million hectares. In the previous week, the index was 82%. In the same period of the previous year, the percentage was 97%. The five-year average for the period is 89.5%.
In Mato Grosso do Sul, out of a total area estimated at 3.25 million hectares, 90% have already been sown, which is equivalent to around 2.93 million hectares. In the previous week, the index was 65%. In the same period last year, the percentage was 85%, while the five-year average for the period is 87.8%.
In Goiás, out of a total planned area of 3.795 million hectares, 61% were sown, or around 2.32 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 52%, while in the same period last year the percentage was 63%. The five-year average for the period is 68.4%.
In São Paulo, out of a total area estimated at 1.08 million hectares, 30% were sown, or around 324 thousand hectares. In the previous week, the index was 25%, while in the same period of the previous year the percentage was 84%. The five-year average for the period is 70%.
In Minas Gerais, out of a total area estimated at 1.755 million hectares, 62% were sown, around 1.09 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 44%. In the same period last year, the percentage was 57%, while the five-year average for the period is 54.4%.
In Bahia, out of a total area estimated at 1.67 million hectares, 40% were sown, or around 668 thousand hectares. In the previous week, the index was 20%, while in the same period last year the percentage was 7%. The five-year average for the period is 21.8%.
In Santa Catarina, planting is 50% completed for a total planned area of 750 thousand hectares, which is equivalent to around 375 thousand hectares. In the previous week, the index was 35%. In the same period of the previous year, the percentage was 65%, while the average for the period is 58.6%.
Climate forecasts point to the return of humidity in practically all producing regions in the period between November 13th and 19th. In the period between November 20th and 26th, the South region and some states in the Southeast and Central-West regions should receive little rain, while other states in the central region and the North and Northeast regions of the country should receive a good volume of precipitation.
