Petrobras announced, this Thursday (18), a reduction in the price of a liter of gasoline from R$ 0.0360 and a liter of diesel from R$ 0.0444, reports “Agência Brasil”. The values refer to the average prices of fuel sold by refineries to distributors and came into effect from midnight this Friday (19).
President Jair Bolsonaro reported, on his Twitter account, that the [average] reduction was 2.1% in gasoline and 2.2% in diesel.
Prices vary depending on each state-owned refinery, in the different Brazilian states. The lowest prices for gasoline are in São Luís (MA), R$ 1.51; Itacoatiara (AM), R$ 1.55; and Manaus (AM), R$ 1.58. The highest values for gasoline are in the Brasília refineries, R$ 1.81; Senator Canedo (GO), R$ 1.80; and Uberaba, R$ 1.80.
The lowest prices for the S500 diesel, the best-selling on the roads, are in Itacoatiara (AM), R$ 1.93; São Luís, R$ 1.94; Guamaré (RN), R$ 1.96; and Manaus (AM), R$ 1.96. The highest values are those practiced in Senador Canedo (GO), R$ 2.17; Brasília, R$ 2.17; and Uberaba (MG), R$ 2.17.
According to the state-owned company, “prices for gasoline and diesel sold to distributors are based on the import parity price, formed by international prices for these products plus the costs that importers would incur, such as transport and port fees”.
Type A fuels
The gasoline and diesel sold to distributors are different from the products at the gas station. These are type A fuels, that is, gasoline before its combination with ethanol and diesel also without the addition of biodiesel. The products sold at the pumps to the final consumer are made from type A mixed with biofuels. The prices published by the state-owned company refer to type A products.
These values will affect the profit margin of distributors and gas stations, taxes, which vary from one state to another, the cost of labor, among other variables.
