The largest meeting in the logistics, cargo transport and foreign trade sector has already confirmed, for the 2023 edition, the participation of 30 national and international ports.

Intermodal organizers anticipate news during a sector event to be held next week in Santos.

Intermodal South America, the largest meeting in the logistics and intralogistics sector, cargo transportation and foreign trade in Latin America, anticipates some of the new features of the 27th edition, scheduled for 2023, during participation in the Latin American Ports Congress – AAPAS Latino, which takes place from November 28th to 30th in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo.

“The port sector is one of the most strategic for national logistics and the moment is one of intense development to enable operations with large vessels and increase the competitiveness of port complexes and also of the country in the international market”, states Hermano Pinto Jr. , director of the Infrastructure portfolio at Informa Markets Brasil, promoter and organizer of Intermodal.

More than 30 national and international ports have already confirmed their presence at Intermodal South America in 2023. “It will be one of the most significant port participations in the history of the event. We will have representatives from Germany, Belgium, Spain, the United States and Portugal, as well as from recognized port terminals and cargo and equipment handling companies, maritime support, services and port technology”, reveals Hermano.

Scheduled to take place from February 28th to March 2nd, 2023, at São Paulo Expo, Intermodal South America will bring together more than 500 national and international brands, representing three pillars: intralogistics, technology and cargo transportation. “In 2023, we will have exhibitors who work, literally, in the entire dynamics of supply chain. Each mode will be represented and all actors will also be at the event: logistics operators, maritime, airline and road companies, cargo handling equipment and technology solutions for logistics management in ports, airports and distribution centers, logtechs, among many other companies.”, concludes Hermano.
Additionally, the event will feature an extensive content program, with the XXVI National Logistics Conference (CNL), organized by Abralog (Brazilian Logistics Association), and the first edition of the South America Intermodal Congress. The events will explore topics related to infrastructure and international and national cargo transportation, logistics and intralogistics, innovations in equipment solutions and technologies for cargo management and movement, among others.

The Sector

According to data from ANTAQ (National Waterway Transport Agency), the Brazilian port sector, made up of public ports and private terminals, handled 1.210 billion tons in 2021. For 2022, studies indicate that movement will reach 1.239 billion tons, an increase of 2.4% in relation to 2021. For the next four years, the agency expects the upward trend in port movement to continue. In 2026, the expectation is that the national port sector will handle 1.402 billion tons compared to 1.360 billion tons in 2025.

The high demand for movement and diversification of cargo handled in national ports increases the demand for technology and equipment solutions that increase the productivity and operational efficiency of port complexes. “The port scenario is one that presents an intense need for constant technological development to support international trade activity. At Intermodal South America, visitors will have the opportunity to learn, first-hand, how port administrations and their stakeholders they are overcoming the challenges of gaining capacity and efficiency, without compromising the precepts of sustainability”, concludes Hermano.
