What is unusual in this segment is to note that the position of second largest producer of fertile eggs in Brazil is now being occupied by the state of Goiás. Which, thanks to an increase in production of 1.32%, surpassed the production of São Paulo, currently placed in third position.

By the way, Goiás – among the 17 Federative Units identified by IBGE as producers of fertile eggs (cutting and laying eggs, for the production of breeding and commercial chicks) – is among the few UFs that, in the last semester, increased the volume produced. In other words: most of them reduced production, which includes Paraná, São Paulo, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, four of the five largest Brazilian producers of fertile eggs.
Mato Grosso, Ceará, Bahia, Tocantins and Paraíba complete the list of FUs with reduced production.
In the opposite direction, in addition to Goiás, production increased in the semester, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pernambuco, Distrito Federal, Piauí and Pará.
In the list of producing UFs, IBGE also includes Rio de Janeiro and Maranhão, whose production is not specified, as they have only one producing establishment. Sergipe was included among the producers of fertile eggs only in 2021.
