Minister Tereza Cristina (Agriculture, Livestock and Supply) confirmed this Monday (26) the first trip to four Arab countries in September. From the 14th to the 23rd of next month, the Brazilian delegation will visit Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. One of the objectives is to increase commercial relations.
“Brazil is able to expand the supply of various agricultural products already imported by the Arab League, but which still has a negligible representation in the Brazilian export basket to its countries. It’s like the case of cotton, cocoa and dried or fresh fruits, such as guava, mango and lemon”, said the minister, in a lecture on the importance of Arab countries for Brazilian agriculture, at the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, in São Paul. According to Tereza Cristina, the commercial relationship generates US$ 20 billion, of which around 70% comes from agricultural products.
According to the minister, Brazil is familiar with the demands of the Arab markets. “Your consumers know and approve of our products. And we are proud to be one of the largest exporters of halal protein in the world today”.
The president of the Chamber of Commerce, Rubens Hannun, informed that studies are being developed to expand trade between Brazil and the Arab League, making it a “strategic partnership”. He mentioned that two seminars are planned between the countries: one on food security, which will be held in December this year, in the United Arab Emirates; and another on logistics, in 2020, in Egypt.

“We have several agreements that are already being discussed between the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and the German Ministry of Agriculture”, he highlighted. She also said that she will go to Geneva to participate in a meeting at the World Trade Organization (WTO).
