With the delayed arrival of the rains and the consequent improvement in the support and quality of pastures, the calm that we have observed in recent months in the market is no longer so frequent. However, despite the improvement in demand, prices remained practically stable in the last month due to the increase in supply. On average across all categories surveyed by Scot Consultoria, analyzing the last seven days, prices accumulated an increase of 0.35% in the state.
When compared to the beginning of the year, the average price of all replacement categories dropped 2.6%. On the other hand, in the same period, the price of live cattle fell by 10.4%, generating a loss of purchasing power, especially in relation to categories with rapid finishing. At the beginning of the year it was possible to acquire 1.69 garrotes worth 9.5@ with the sale of a fat cattle worth 16.5@. Today the exchange rate is 1.49, a worsening of 12.2% in purchasing power.
