From October 1st, it will be easier to carry out the procedure for importing agricultural products. The Ministry of Agriculture has changed the standards and products classified in the Mercosur Common Nomenclatures (NCMs), will be able to use the License, Permission, Certification and Others (LPCO) model for the Import of Products of Agricultural Interest (I00004) on the Single Commerce Portal Exterior.
The change in import processing, through an Import License (LI) and an LPCO, is an intermediate step to the future implementation of the new import process (NPI) in the Single Portal and will not yet use the Single Import Declaration ( DUIMP).

The change in the process will allow the end of user registration on Vigiagro, application of risk management and reduction of time for releasing operations considered low risk. Information that was previously processed redundantly in different federal government systems will now be presented in a single environment, also contributing to the work of Federal Agricultural Auditors, who will now work on a single database. This way, importers have reduced workload, with less risk of errors when filling out forms, which guarantees more efficiency and faster cargo release.
Using the new system will also allow for better risk management. Imports considered to be of lower risk may be released automatically. Others, of intermediate risk, may be exempt from physical inspections, with inspection carried out based on documentation. The focus of health inspection can then be concentrated on cargo that poses a high risk to consumers and Brazilian agriculture.
