Agribusiness products will remain exempt from tax on exports, said Senator Veneziano Vital do Rêgo (PSB-PB) this Tuesday (10/29), who participated in the weekly meeting of the Agricultural Parliamentary Front (FPA), in Brasília (DF). The parliamentarian is the rapporteur of Constitutional Amendment Proposal 42/2019, which repeals the so-called Kandir Law.
Vital do Rego explained that the initial proposal, by senator Antônio Anastasia (PSDB-MG) provided for the total repeal of the law, which would lead to the taxation of agricultural exports. He said, however, that when talking to Anastasia, the Minas Gerais senator agreed to keep the sector's foreign sales free from charging the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS).
“The revocation will only apply to primary mineral products, because, after all, it has been agribusiness, over the last few years, that has been the bias with which the Brazilian economy has safeguarded itself from the point of view of its trade balance figures. . That will be our vote”, said the parliamentarian.
