The average price of Imidacloprid for imports is US$ 35.7/Kg, which represents an inflation of 8.5% in the amounts paid for the technical product in the comparison between June 2016 and the same period last year. The survey was presented by the Global Agrochemicals Portal.
The price increase occurred at the same time as there was an increase in imported volume: from January to June this year, agricultural pesticide industries in Brazil purchased more than 2,100 tons of the product. This means that in just six months, imports have already reached 80% of the total shipped to the country in 2015.
According to the study, the expansion occurs due to the fact that the demand for Imidacloprid is increasing on the international market, in view of the great efficiency of this systemic action neonicotinoid insecticide in cotton, rice, potato, sugarcane, citrus, beans, tobacco crops. , corn, soybeans, tomatoes and wheat – among others. “Approved in more than 120 countries and for several crops, Imidacloprid has a broad spectrum of action and controls both sucking insects, such as whiteflies, mealybugs, aphids, thrips and also termites”, states Global Agrochemicals.
Brazil has been importing more and more of this active ingredient every year, and last year alone it grew by 100% compared to 2014 and reached more than 2,600 tons imported. The largest purchasing movement was observed from the second half of 2015, a period that concentrated 87% of imports.
The main country supplying the technical product was India, with approximately 45% of entries, followed by China (27%) and Germany (27%).
