The impeachment process against the President of the United States (USA), Donald Trump, begins to be judged today (21) in the Senate. He is accused by Democrats of having abused the privileges of the office of president, to pressure the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, to investigate the family of Joe Biden, his biggest rival among the Democratic candidates for the 2020 presidential elections.
Trump would have withheld US$ 400 million in Defense funds, promised to Ukraine, to force Zelenskiy to investigate Biden's activities, when he was a member of the Board of Directors of a Ukrainian state gas company.
Analysts consider it impossible for Trump to be removed from office, as the Republican Party has a majority in the US Senate.
The American president's defense presents its arguments in favor of acquittal. Democrats, in turn, will try to approve the calling of new witnesses.
Donald Trump is in Davos, Switzerland, where he is participating in the World Economic Forum.
