The government of the state of São Paulo decided to increase the ICMS rate on hydrated ethanol from 9.57% to 12.0%, starting tomorrow, July 1st.

According to DATAGRO's estimate, the price of hydrated ethanol to consumers should rise from 2.8% to R$ 4.06/liter, losing around 2 pp of competitiveness compared to C gasoline, already considering the return of all federal taxes (PIS/Cofins /CIDE) on the same date.
According to the state government, the measure aims to restore the tax differential in force on May 15, 2022, considering the ICMS on gasoline at a fixed value of R$ 1.22/liter since June 1, 2023.
