The Secretary of Agricultural Policy of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Neri Geller, will represent the Brazilian government at the 1st World Coffee Producers Forum, from Monday (10) to Wednesday (12) next week, in Medellín (Colombia ). “The event will serve to discuss the main issues of interest to the coffee sector from the perspective of producers, in order to increase the international visibility of these issues and encourage collaboration with other links in the chain on new bases”, says the director of the Coffee Department , Sugarcane and Agroenergy Silvio Farnese, who will accompany Geller on the trip.
The forum's agenda has three panels: “Economic Sustainability of the Coffee Producer”, “Rural Development and Socioeconomic Indicators in the world of coffee” and “Adaptation to Climate Change in Coffee Production”.
According to the organizers, the conclusions and recommendations will be incorporated into the document “Final Declaration of the 1st World Coffee Producers Forum”, to be presented at the next session of the International Coffee Council, in September this year, in Abdijã (Ivory Coast). ).
The panel on the Economic Sustainability of Coffee Producers will feature a lecture by the executive president of the National Coffee Council (CNC), Silas Brasileiro. Conferences and panels will have simultaneous translation into Spanish, English, French and Portuguese.
The largest coffee producers in the world, in millions of bags, are: Brazil (55); Vietnam (25), Colombia (14), Indonesia (10), Ethiopia (6.6), Honduras (5.9) and India (5.3).
