After days of intense heat, a cold front forms in southern Brazil. From this Wednesday (27th), temperatures drop. Furthermore, this cold front brings intense rain to the South of Brazil and parts of the Southeast. However, the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) warns that due to the high temperatures of recent days, the rain could arrive with intensity and with the risk of hail in Rio Grande do Sul.
The cold front will further favor the formation of a new extratropical cyclone. “There will be an increase in the intensity of wind gusts in the state, exceeding 70 km/h. The cyclone will move to the high seas on Wednesday, organizing a cold front and causing storms between Santa Catarina and São Paulo”, says Inmet.
Regarding volumes, the Cosmo model predicts accumulations of between 20mm and 40mm in the next 24 hours in Santa Catarina and central-southern Paraná. Therefore, the tendency is for the most significant volumes to be recorded in Santa Catarina.
On the map it is also possible to observe areas of instability forming in parts of the Central region, with emphasis on Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, which may receive rain showers between Wednesday and Thursday (28).
“In the Central-West, the cold wind brought by the cold front in Mato Grosso do Sul causes a great decrease in heat. The weakening of the high atmospheric pressure system allows the formation of heavy clouds in Mato Grosso and Goiás and rain showers will occur again this Wednesday.” But there is more rain until the weekend and so temperatures return to normal heat levels”, adds Climatempo.
