On Wednesday next week, the Instituto Pensar Agro (IPA), based in Brasília, hosts the seminar of the Federation of Sugarcane Planters of Brazil (Feplana), chaired by Paulo Leal. The event will bring together Agriculture federations from several states, such as PR, SP, MG and GO, as well as Sugarcane Growers' associations from the country's states, as well as federal senators and deputies. The future of RenovaBio in the Lula government and the development of green hydrogen (from sugar cane) will be some of the themes, in addition to the main agro agendas with the Executive and Legislative branches.
The debate begins with the agricultural priorities in the National Congress from the perspective of the president of the IPA, former deputy Nilson Leitão. The future of the Federal Biofuels Policy (RenovaBio) will be addressed shortly thereafter by the Ministry of Mines and Energy. The speaker will be Pietro Mendes, secretary of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels at the department.

The second part of the seminar will focus on the development of new biofuels. “Green hydrogen is our expectation”, says Leal. The debate will be led by the national secretary of Planning and Energy Transition, Thiago Barral, with the topic of vehicular hydrogen from sugarcane. The development of this type of biofuels will be addressed by the head of Embrapa Agroenergia, Alexandre Alonso.
Taking into account the relevance of sugarcane cultivation for the implementation of green hydrogen and especially for RenovaBio, which will be presented by consultant Carlos Xavier, the topic will also be detailed by Mário Campos, president of the Sector Chamber of the Ministry's Sugar and Alcohol Production Chain of Agriculture. Campos still presides over the National Sugar Energy Forum.
The technical seminar of the Federation of Sugarcane Growers will be held in the afternoon, after the assembly of entities associated with Feplana, which will take place in the morning. “In the evening, the seminar continues to focus on political issues, bringing together several senators and deputies to discuss topics related to the agribusiness and sugarcane sector, such as the participation of biomass producers of biofuels in RenovaBio and the challenges and future of agroenergy”, he anticipates.
