The beginning of the 2021/22 corn season in the state was characterized by the advance of sowing of the cereal in a large part of Mato Grosso, motivated by the anticipation of soybean planting and harvesting. With the completion of sowing of the cereal in April 22, producers' attention turns to its development, in which the climate is the main factor for its evolution.

And in this sense, although the weather helped with the beginning of sowing and most of the areas were sown within the ideal window (82.74%), the state's producing regions have been suffering from the reduction in rainfall since April 22 .

According to data from the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (IMEA), current climate models indicate low volumes of rain for the period May 22, which vary from 10 mm to 25 mm in most of the state, except for the north of Mato Grosso, according to TempoCampo. Finally, with the reduction in rainfall, the 2021/22 harvest estimates were revised, according to the next analysis below.
