Surveys by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) show that Brazilian exports of chicken meat (considering all products, including fresh and processed) totaled 397.1 thousand tons in October, a number that exceeds the recorded performance by 24.2% in the same period last year, when 319.7 thousand tons were shipped.

In terms of revenue, sales of chicken meat to the international market reached a balance of US$ 715.2 million, a performance 60.1% higher than that achieved in October 2020, with US$ 446.8 million. In the year to date (January to October), chicken meat exports reached 3.864 million tons, a volume 10.45% greater than the 3.498 million tons shipped in the same period last year.

In terms of revenue, chicken meat exports totaled US$ 6.339 billion, a balance 25.1% higher than that recorded in the same period last year, with US$ 5.066 billion.

“There was widespread growth in the various export destinations of chicken meat from Brazil in October, maintaining the positive projections predicted by ABPA for the year 2021. At the same time, the significant increase in export revenue has balanced the impacts of rising costs of production accumulated since last year”, assesses the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.

Leader among the main importers of chicken meat in Brazil, China was the destination of 51.2 thousand tons in October, a volume 2.5% higher than that recorded in the tenth month of 2020. Other highlights were Japan, with 47.2 thousand tons ( +60.4%), United Arab Emirates, with 43.6 thousand tons (+108.1%), South Africa, with 23.6 thousand tons (+1.3%), and the European Union, with 19.7 thousand tons (+49.6%).

“With a record historical average, above 400 thousand tons per month, the second half of this year should continue at a solid pace of shipments, especially at a time when, historically, regions of the Northern Hemisphere present outbreaks of Avian Influenza, a disease from which Brazil it’s free”, says ABPA’s markets director, Luis Rua.
