The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) reports that Brazilian exports of chicken meat (considering fresh and processed) totaled, in July, 424.4 thousand tons, a number 16.4% higher than that achieved in the same period of 2020, when 364.6 thousand tons were exported. It is the best monthly result of 2021 and the third highest in the history of the production sector.

In terms of revenue, chicken meat sales totaled US$ 739.2 million in July, a number 48.4% higher than that achieved in July 2020, with US$ 498.2 million. The sector's last record of monthly export revenue above US$ 700 million occurred in July 2018.

“With high value-added markets occupying the top positions among the main destinations, there was a strong increase in the final result of sales in July, with a direct impact on the balance of the year. In this context, there was a natural transfer of production costs, which has impacted animal protein prices not only in Brazil, but also on the international market”, assesses the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.

Considering the first seven months of 2021, chicken meat sales reached 2.668 million tons, 7.98% higher than that shipped in 2020, with 2.471 million tons.

In revenue, the accumulated result in the first seven months of 2021 totaled US$ 4.216 billion, a number 15.7% higher than that recorded in the same period of the previous year, with US$ 3.642 billion.

Among the main importing markets, the main highlight was China, with 63.1 thousand tons exported in July, 4.51 TP3T higher than that exported in the same period of 2020. Taking second place, Japan imported 35.7 thousand tons (+2.6%). In third place among the main importers and main highlight in the halal market, the United Arab Emirates imported 34 thousand tons in July (+75.7%). In fourth place, South Africa imported 24.6 thousand tons (+36%).

“The economic recovery of several importing countries and the substantial increase in the number of people vaccinated against COVID in the world have contributed to the volumes achieved in recent months. The trend is for high export volumes until the end of the year, in this context”, says markets director, Luis Rua.
