From June 8th to 11th, Belo Horizonte hosted the largest cachaça fair in the world. Considered a showcase for the drink, Expocachaça celebrated 20 years of activities, bringing together in its 27th edition an audience of approximately 45 thousand people during the four days of the event.
According to José Lúcio Ferreira, president of Expocachaça, this edition generated R$ 46 million in business during and after the fair with equipment traded abroad and the arrival of international companies.
Another highlight of Expocachaça was the 11th. edition of Brasil Bier, the festival took place inside the fair and presented the main microbreweries on the national scene. In total, visitors were able to check out approximately 600 brands of cachaça and 50 beer labels.
The big news of this edition was the launch of the Carreta Alambique Escola- Brasil, comprising a cachaça still, laboratory, classroom for 15 students, library and video library. The truck will be based in Belo Horizonte, but will travel throughout Brazil, bringing producers the knowledge necessary to produce with quality and within the legal standards required by the distilled drinks market in the world, making cachaça a more competitive product.
In addition to Minas Gerais, the 27th edition of the fair welcomed producers from other states in the country, including Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, Santa Catarina, Alagoas, among others. This participation brought visibility to new brands and to the drink itself, which currently generates an amount of R$ 6 billion in sales. With information from Expocachaça.
