Concern about the global supply of fertilizers is not restricted to Brazil. The United States, which together with the European Union applied sanctions against Russia due to the offensive on Ukrainian territory, is also being affected by the rise in input prices.

Due to the constant increase in imports, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) plans an investment of US$ 250 million to stimulate local production of fertilizers, in an attempt to reduce dependence on foreign products – the country is responsible for around 10% of world consumption of the input, being the third largest global importer.
