In Pará, the solution found by the state to reduce revenue losses was the Executive Law Project (PLE) nº 397/2022. Approved by the Legislative Assembly (Alepa), the Pará government has already declared that such a measure should not be sufficient to cover the losses.
In Paraná, the Legislative Assembly (Alepr) approved the proposal that increases the basic rate of state tax and increases the tax on products such as carbonated water and soft drinks. With the changes, the Paraná government hopes to cushion revenue losses by 50% with the reduction in ICMS rates on fuels.
Other states such as Amazonas and Alagoas should follow the same path and have already forwarded to their respective Legislative Assemblies projects that change ICMS rates with the same objective: to minimize the impacts of changing the ICMS on fuels.
