After three years of growth, cattle slaughter fell 8.5% in 2020, reaching 29.7 million heads, according to information from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics.
On the other hand, pig slaughter increased by 6.4% and reached a new record, reaching 49.3 million heads. Chicken slaughter also increased: 3.3% in 2020 against 2019, totaling 6 billion heads, a new record in the historical series started in 1997.
Milk acquisition increased by 2.1% and reached 25.5 billion liters, also a record in the historical series. The acquisition of leather (30.8 million pieces) fell by 7.4% compared to 2019. Egg production increased by 3% and reached 3.96 billion dozen, a new record in the historical series started in 1987. The information comes from from the IBGE press office.
