El Niño could affect the planting of the 2023/24 soybean harvest in Brazil, said professor Fabio Marin from Esalq-USP at an Agro Amazônia event in Cuiabá (MT). Sumitomo Corporation's subsidiary, Agro Amazônia, launched the IBI Agro Intelligence application, to assist rural producers in market and climate decisions.

The warming of the waters of the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Peru marks El Niño. “The phenomenon commonly leads to heavy rains in the South region and dry weather in Central Brazil”, highlighted the professor.
