Commemorative edition of CNMA's 5th anniversary expects to bring together 2,100 women in São Paulo

The 5th Congress of Women in Agribusiness – CNMA, which will be held on the 27th and 28th of October at the Transamerica Expo Center, in São Paulo (SP), will have in this commemorative edition the theme “Brazilian Woman: The Global Voice” and hopes to bring together around 2,100 participants from Brazil and other countries to debate female protagonism in the sector.

An unprecedented survey, which outlined the profile of women in Brazilian agribusiness, conducted in partnership with ABAG – Brazilian Agribusiness Association and the auditing company PwC, gave rise to the story of the CNMA in 2016. “That was when the desire to debate women's role in the sector and create an event entirely for them. That first year we brought together 600 women and explored the theme 'Developing opportunities in the era of efficiency and sensitivity'”, says the event's show manager at the time, Renata Camargo.

With the success of the first edition, in 2017 the next step was to debate “Globalized, entrepreneurial and integrated leadership”, with women from various parts of Brazil attending national and international speakers and also being part of a large movement that the CNMA was beginning to put into practice. in evidence: the protagonism of women in agribusiness. At the time, the high demand for participation in the event led to registrations breaking attendance records and the thousand tickets were sold out two months before the event.

In 2018, with the theme “2030: the future now, in practice”, the organization was looking for a real woman to represent the thousands of professionals who work in agriculture in Brazil. This is how Elizana Baldissera Paranhos, agricultural engineer, mother of three children and cereal producer in Capão Bonito (SP) was chosen to be the event's ambassador. “Having a personality leading the event worked: there were 1,500 national and international congressmen, a new attendance record and the consolidation that we were on the right path”, highlights Renata.

The 3rd edition of the CNMA also launched two new features: the “Women of Agribusiness” award, carried out by Bayer, in partnership with ABAG, aiming to recognize and value the importance of the female presence in the field and encourage their performance in the sector; and Corteva's Agribusiness Women's Leadership Academy, also in partnership with ABAG and Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC), to train Brazilian women who earn their livelihood and that of their families from rural activities.

For the 4th edition of the CNMA, in 2019, the ambassador chosen was rural producer, livestock farmer and businesswoman Norma Gatto, from Rondonóplis (MT). With one month to go until the event, all registrations were sold out: there were 1,900 delegates and more than 50 sponsors. Another novelty of the edition was the launch of the #minhavoznoagro campaign, in which the congresswomen had the opportunity to go on stage and tell their success stories, their goals and share difficulties. The edition also included the launch of the book “Mulheres do Agro”, which brings together inspiring stories of women who make a difference in the country's agribusiness.

Five year commemorative edition

This year's meeting, which will have as its central theme “Brazilian Woman: The Global Voice”, will address strategic themes that will contribute to dazzling a post-pandemic scenario in agribusiness, including: Political Economic Environment, International Trade, Vision and Business Management , in addition to the 2020-2021 perspectives. The event will also feature special actions to celebrate five years of this movement that is the CNMA, in search of female protagonism.

The first of these is the appointment of this year's ambassador, agriculturalist Sônia Bonato, who was honored by the Bayer Women of Agro Award in the 2019 edition. “It is a great pride to be able to represent women in agribusiness and an honor to have a Congress that takes us to better understand our potential”, stated Sônia.

Among the new features is the creation of a committee with representatives of companies, entities and opinion makers in the sector to format content that will contribute, together with the curation of professor and journalist, José Luiz Tejon Megido, to the event's programming.

In addition to the main arena, which this year will be divided into five parts, the commemorative edition will feature the Knowledge Arena active during the breaks, with capacity for 50 people, on both days.
