Chemistry is the branch of science that studies the changes and transformations undergone by matter, including soil, water, air, pollutants, minerals and metals, as well as their composition and properties. Since prehistoric times, man has accumulated practical knowledge of chemistry.
On June 18, 1956, the then President Juscelino Kubitschek promulgated the “Mater Law of Chemists”. This law provided for the exercise of the profession of Chemist and also created the Federal Chemistry Council (CFQ) and the Regional Chemistry Councils (CRQs). Thus, on June 18th, Chemist Day was celebrated. The date is a tribute to all professionals who have the following higher education qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry;
- Chemistry graduation;
- Industrial chemistry;
- Chemical engineering;
– Technology in Chemical Processes;
- Food Engineering;
– Plastics engineering.
Chemists actively work in technological progress, improving the quality of national products. Thanks to them, there is constant technical-scientific and industrial development, meaning that medicines, food and hygiene and cleaning products, for example, are manufactured with better quality both for the health of the consumer and those who produce them, as well as for minimize environmental impacts.
We wish a happy Chemist's Day to all professionals who make Chemistry their passion!
