The third edition of DATAGRO Soy, Corn and Cotton Harvest Opening took place in São Paulo (SP) this Monday (29). For the first time in person and this year presented by Koppert, the event organized by Consultoria DATAGRO brought together more than 400 people and highlighted the potential of Brazilian agribusiness in ensuring domestic supply and generating exportable surpluses, contributing decisively to ensuring global food security in an environment to challenges such as adverse weather events in important agricultural producing countries, effects still resulting from the covid-19 pandemic and the outbreak of war in Eastern Europe.
Present at the opening ceremony and special panel of the event were the governor of the State of São Paulo, Rodrigo Garcia; the Secretary of Agricultural Policy of the Ministry of Agriculture (Mapa), Guilherme Soria Bastos Filho; the Secretary of Agriculture and Supply of the State of São Paulo, Francisco Matturro; the commercial director of Koppert, Gustavo Herrmann; the president of the Agribusiness Council of the São Paulo Commercial Association (ACSP) and executive director of Abramilho, Cesário Ramalho; and the president of the Brazilian Rural Society (SRB), Teresa Vendramini. They were welcomed by the host, the president of DATAGRO, Plinio Nastari.

In his presentation, Nastari reaffirmed the role of Brazilian agriculture in producing volume and quality, with sustainability, with the prospect of harvesting a 2022/23 grain harvest above 300 million tons, an amount that, if confirmed, would represent a significant increase compared to the cycle previous. “And we are not just talking about soybeans and corn, but also cotton, among other grain crops, which are the basis of the enormous success that is the integration of national agricultural production chains, which adds value in the form of animal protein, bran, biofuels, and so on.”
“Initial estimates point to a record grain harvest and the position of sector participants is that there will be a supply of inputs despite the high prices that will continue in the coming months and that will have to be managed by producers and agribusiness”, summarized Flávio Roberto França Jr., research leader at DATAGRO Grãos, during the event.
