The production costs of broiler chickens and pigs interrupted a two-month sequence of increases to register a drop in June, according to monthly studies published by CIAS, Embrapa's Poultry and Swine Intelligence Center. Both ICPFrango (399.10) and ICPSuíno (390.22) were once again below 400 points, which had not happened since March.
In June, ICPFrango fell 2.11%, mainly due to the reduction in animal feed costs (-2.78%), despite the increase of 0.63% in expenses with the acquisition of day-old chicks. Even so, ICPFrango accumulates an increase of 18.47% in 2021 alone and 52.30% in the last 12 months. The production cost of a kilo of live broiler chicken in Paraná, produced in an air-conditioned poultry house under positive pressure, fell by R$ 0.11 in June compared to May, going from R$ 5.27 to R$ 5.16.

ICPSuíno dropped 6.50% in June, also strongly influenced by nutrition costs (-6.61%). In 2021, ICPSuíno recorded an increase of 4.01%. In the last 12 months, the variation is 47.53%. As a result, the cost per live kilo of pig produced in a full cycle system in Santa Catarina fell by R$ 0.48 between May and June, reaching R$ 6.82.
The states of Santa Catarina and Paraná are used as references in the calculations as they are the largest national producers of pigs and broiler chickens, respectively.
Easy Cost App
Embrapa recently launched the new version of Custo Fácil. The application brings news to broiler and pig producers who have the application installed on their cell phones and tablets. It is now possible to edit and delete farms and batch data, in addition to generating dynamic reports on farms, users and database statistics on the Embrapa server. Furthermore, the reports allow you to separate expenses from family labor costs. The application is available for free to install on Android devices, on Google Play. The new version also shows the producer their position in the ranking and the regional averages of the main economic indicators (gross revenue, total cost, net profit and cash generation) of the farms that declared information through the application or on the Custo Fácil portal on the internet.
Producer cost spreadsheet
Integrated pig and broiler producers can use an electronic spreadsheet made by Embrapa to manage the farm. It compares the revenue obtained with production costs, monitoring the farm's cash generation and the impact of financing provision. The spreadsheet also analyzes the result and presents an estimate of the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of the investment. It can be downloaded from the CIAS website.
