The 40th edition of Expointer closed this year with R$ 2.035 million in business, which meant an increase of 6% over the figures from last year's fair. With an audience of 382.6 thousand visitors and participants, the largest agricultural event in Latin America had its results announced by the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, José Ivo Sartori.
The agricultural machinery and implements sector sold R$ 1.923 billion in this year's edition, which marked an increase of 0.75% compared to 2016. This is the segment that traditionally records the highest revenue figures at the Assis Brasil Exhibition Park, in Esteio .
The biggest increase in revenue was recorded at the Family Farming Pavilion, which sold R$ 2.851 million in sales. The result represented an expansion of no less than 40% compared to 2016.
The only sector that recorded a drop compared to the previous edition of Expointer was animal sales, with R$ 10.613 million in business. According to the organizers, the reduction was 12% on this basis of comparison.
The last major agribusiness fair of the year, Expointer is not just focused on business. Proof of this were the 479 internal events promoted, which received more than 40 thousand people. This year, 19 Brazilian states and 11 countries were represented.
“The 40th Expointer took place in a positive way, within a very real context, in an environment with harmony, positive atmosphere and congregation. This is a space where the countryside and the city are integrated, a value that cannot be measured in figures, but something very significant for the development of Brazilian agriculture”, summarized the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Ernani Polo.
